Growing Old
All These Once Again
I want to climb once again in a waterfall,
Feeling its mist as I go.
I want to sing its tropical song,
Then jump into its pool below.
I want to once again see, hear, touch, smell, and taste,
Tropical beaches, winds, and seas.
I want to crack a coconut and make a sandcastle,
Then wipe the sand off my knees.
I want to see once again the sunset,
At Prince Kuhio Beach in Waikiki.
Then be up for the following sunrise.
With no other place to be.
I want to walk once again in a rainbow,
Engulfed in angel hair clouds.
I’ve done it at Waimea Canyon,
On a ridge-back far from the crowds.
I want to Eurail once again across Europe,
Spending weeks in a magical state.
Eating in the dining car with all new friends,
Then getting off to find a new fate.
I want to linger once again in the Holy Land,
Passing months in overpowering awe.
I want to touch and explore everything once again,
And in my diaries, record everything I saw.
I want to hike once again in the mountains,
And wade across a snow-melt stream.
Its liquid ice will freeze my legs,
Then I’ll thaw them in a sunbeam.
